Matias Zatonyl was named Mayor Pro-Tem for the Alma City Council at a council meeting held earlier this month. Council also voted to have the council meetings filmed via a YouTube Channel for the city.

D Magazine has named two Cedar Hill destinations in its Ultimate Outdoor Guide. Both Cedar Hill State Park – Texas Parks and Wildlife and Dogwood Canyon Audubon Center were recognized.

The City of Ennis Utility Billing Department officially transitioned to a new and improved online payment system, Xpress Bill Pay, which began this past Monday. Beginning that day, customers visiting www.ennistx.gov are automatically directed to the new payment portal. Or they can go straight to Xpress Bill Pay (https://xpressbillpay.com/#/?org=ennis11185). You can still pay by phone at 833 622 3316.

GARRETT
Residents are reminded that outdoor burning inside Garrett requires a burn permit from City Hall before burning takes place. There is no fee for the permit it allows the City to know when and where burning is occurring for safety purposes.
Residents are reminded that Texas environmental laws prohibit the burning of materials that create toxic smoke or air pollution. Items that are ILLEGAL to burn include, but are not limited to:
• Tires
• Wire insulation or electrical materials
• Plastics or PVC materials
• Rubber products
• Treated or painted wood
• Construction debris
• Household garbage or trash
• Furniture or upholstery
• Asphalt shingles or roofing materials
• Oil, chemicals, or hazardous materials
• Aerosol cans or explosive materials
Only natural vegetation such as brush, limbs, leaves, grass, and untreated wood should be burned when permitted.
GRAND PRAIRIE
The Grand Prairie Fire Department responded to a report of a possible drowning at Joe Pool Lake last week. Witnesses reported that a 15-year-old male was last seen swimming near the swim beach area and did not resurface. The Grand Prairie Public Safety Dive Team conducted a search and rescue operation and located the swimmer.
He transported to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition, he was not wearing a life vest.
As lake season begins, GPFD encourages the public to wear a life vest or an appropriate flotation device while in or near the water.

MIDLOTHIAN
Gulf Coast Authority (GCA) released a Notice of Unauthorized discharge on May 29, but the Midlothian has assured residents via Facebook that water from the City of Midlothian Public Water System is safe from this discharge and residents do not need to boil water. GCA Treatment Facility experienced structural failure and resulted in greater than 100,000 gallons of domestic wastewater entering the facility and ultimately discharging via a permitted outfall for the facility located at 3251 RailPort Parkway, Midlothian.
MILFORD

Ovilla is accepting applications for board and commission positions and invites residents to apply to be a part of the future of the city. Palmer is hosting its Back-to-School Bash on Saturday, July 25 and the city is currently accepting donations. Donations help local students start the school year strongly by providing school supplies, fun activities, and a chance for families to connect before classes begin. To make this event a success, school supplies on the wish list for donation include paper towels, Kleenex, disinfecting wipes, and Ziploc Baggies as well as monetary donations to help purchase supplies.
RED OAK
The Northern Ellis County Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. partnered with Red Oak Parks & Recreation to donate and install a Little Free Library at Pearson Park, giving children and families continued access to books right in the heart of the community.
