So, how is this going to be?

Was your call for service to “fit in” or was your call to spare your God given qualities and skills in service of your fellow men and women of Ferris, Texas, to improve city wide atmosphere and the quality of life of our stakeholders?

Each time I show up at our city council meetings, and not knowing who might be present in the public that night, I choose an attitude that I will adapt for such meeting, holding the highest possibilities for all involved regardless of outer circumstances.

I prepare myself to share my opinions and issue any requests for “motion” with faith and optimism.

I choose a positive, respectful and affirmative approach to my dealings with city council team members and the public as a whole.

At times, I may or may not agree with my fellow council members, however, acknowledging that we all have that wonderful freedom of choice,

I hold everybody’s opinion with the highest respect even when I don’t agree with it.

This is a position that requires independent thinking and evaluation of the many issues presented to us for evaluation and decision making that affect many people and organizations.

Being able to share your best decision and opinion with the public and the members of city council, requires a cognizant approach to ensure that we consistently seek the highest good for all involved.

I personally will decline to let anyone or any interest group(s) control me.

I rely on the materials given to me during the meeting, independent research, and other evidence provided to me in order to offer my best decision or opinion on any matter.

I am also cognizant of the fact that I must choose my decision carefully and to the best of my ability because every one of them has consequences, but then again, each one of them also may bring opportunities.

So, how is this going to be? “Fitting in” is not going to make it for me.

Therefore, I will continue to consistently do my best at serving my community!

In doing so, I will kindly choose to be rejected for who I am rather than being accepted for who I am not.

Blessings,

Michael Martinez
