WEEK 4: Red Oak Hawks stay unbeaten, roll over Killeen Ellison 49-18

RED OAK – After a thrilling Thursday Night ESPN 2 televised overtime win over Lake Belton high school, how would the Hawks respond against the Killeen Ellison Eagles? Did they leave everything on the field in Belton? Would they have the same intensity?

Simply put, they picked up at home where they left off in Belton and rolled over the visiting Ellison Eagles going up 21-0 in the 1st quarter.

In fact, it went so well for the Hawks, the offense scored, the defense scored twice, and the special teams scored 4-points off two blocked PAT’s.

QB Reggie Moody threw for 347 yards and four touchdowns to lead Red Oak to a 49-18 District 4-5AI win over Killeen Ellison. The Hawks defense forced seven turnovers and jumped out to a 21-0 lead fewer than 10 minutes into the game, as Wide Receiver Taz Williams had two receiving touchdowns in the opening frame. WR Charles Taplin led Red Oak with seven catches for 112 yards. Strong Safety Zach Smith returned an interception 78 yards in the second quarter to put Red Oak up 35-0.

The Hawks will enjoy a bye week sitting at 4-0 (2-0) and resume play with another long road trip to Killeen on Friday, Sept. 29 when they take on the Killeen Shoemaker Wolves.

The Wolves (2-2, 0-2) have lost two close games to Midlothian (35-26) and Lake Belton (35-44).
