OVILLA – The 3-3 Ovilla Christian Eagles hosted the 4-1 Lone Star North Tornadoes (Gainesville, TX) in Texas 6-man Football on Friday, Oct. 9.
The Tornadoes took control of the game early, scoring first and forcing the Eagles to punt on nearly every first half possession.
The Tornadoes were up 21-0 before the Eagles finally connected on a long catch and run play to Eli Morales, who ran down the Tornadoes sideline for the touchdown. The PAT was no good. The Eagles scored a late 2nd quarter touchdown on a leaping catch and dive across the goal line by TE Ashton Stanford, which closed out the 1st half with the Eagles down 19-46.
After halftime, the Eagles defensive play became a little stingier and the Tornadoes had to work harder for points while the offensive play opened up. The Eagles were able to move the ball and pick up key first downs. However, a couple of 3rd quarter turnovers killed potential scores.
The Eagles would only score once more in the 3rd quarter where the Tornadoes put up 28 additional points. Under Texas 6-man football rules, the game ends when a team is up by 45 points at halftime or anytime during the 2nd half, so this game ended with a few seconds left in the 3rd quarter after the Tornadoes went up 74-25.
The Eagles fall to 3-4 on the season and will host Prestonwood Christian North at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 16. This is also the Eagles scheduled Homecoming Game.
