Both Red Oak and Midlothian came into Friday’s game at 5-0 in District 14-5A.

The Hawks came out on top with a 61-54 victory. The Panthers came out shooting, while the Hawks struggled a bit from the 3-point arc and missed some easy shots throughout the 1st half and at one point trailed by 10 points. However, some great defense kept them in the game and by halftime, they had close the gap to 3 points.

The difference in this battle for first place came in the 3rd period as the Hawks came out very aggressive and outscored the Panthers 20-13. The Hawks maintained a 5-7 point lead through the 4th period with aggressive defensive play and knocking down shots all over the court.

The Hawks bench play was outstanding throughout the entire game. With the win, the Hawks move to 6-0 and the Panthers fall to 5-1.

These two teams meet again in Midlothian later in the season and it should be another great game.
