DUNCANVILLE – In a tune-up before regionals start, the Red Oak High School Swim Team competed in a Tri-meet with Waxahachie and Duncanville at the Duncanville Natatorium on Wednesday, Jan. 11.

During the season, Hawks swimmer Inaky Garica had come so close multiple times to beating the longest standing ROHS swimming record in the 100-meter butterfly event.

On this night with his coaches and teammates cheering him on, Inaky not only broke the record – but he broke it by quite a bit – with a time of 59.12.

The previous record was set by Alex Palmer during the Red Oak Swim Team’s inaugural year in 2006 with a time of 59.59. Inaky now holds two school records; he broke the 100-yard backstroke record last season.

Before the event, both Red Oak and Waxahachie celebrated Senior Night with seniors.

Parents, family and friends walked through a balloon arch for an introduction and photo opportunity.
