FERRIS – Two key defensive plays and big punt return helped Godley pull away late for a 35-7 win over Ferris in a District 5-4A-II game Friday at Yellowjacket Stadium.

An interception of a deflected pass and an 18-yard return by Parker Priddy set up a 14-yard touchdown pass from Caden Burke to Kolby Bartlett, giving Godley a 21-7 lead with 13.2 seconds remaining in the third quarter. Godley’s Jesse Torres returned a fumble forced by Collin Black 48 yards for a touchdown with 7:51 remaining. Drew Coleman added a 68-yard punt return for a touchdown with 6:08 left.

Burke accounted for 182 total yards and three touchdowns for Godley while Bartlett had 97 yards rushing. Godley (4-4, 1-1 in 5-4A-II) had eight tackles for a loss on defense, two each by Bartlett and Braden Barak, who also had a forced fumble.
