ITALY – Italy’s Chief of Police Chad Nelson has commented on social media posts regarding sexual harassment allegations involving a member of the Italy Police Department.
Nelson said, “Details are limited at this time as the investigation is ongoing. We received a complaint on Sept. 14 from an outside source that had knowledge of the alleged incident. We have been working it ever since.”
Nelson stressed this type of investigation takes time due to gathering written complaints from all the parties involved with knowledge of the case.
Nelson confirmed the alleged subject had been placed on administrative leave while awaiting the findings of the investigation.
“We are still waiting on one more statement at this time to ensure we have as many details as possible before a proper disciplinary action can be administered,” Nelson added.
“Again the investigation is ongoing so no further details will be released to protect the integrity of the active investigation.”
The chief also reminded that this is an allegation only.
“We have the duty to protect both the victim and the subject until the investigation is completed.”
