FERRIS – Ferris’s home opener last Friday, Aug. 28, was brimming with energy, with the bleachers packed and cheers resonating throughout. The band and choreography sustained this vibrant atmosphere, ensuring that the first game was a resounding success.
The game was livestreamed through the Ferris ISD Audio and Visual Student Program if anyone was unable to come and suffer though the high heat temperatures.
Edric Contreras made a significant catch just before half-time; a moment made even more remarkable as a Pinkston player’s helmet flew off during the Yellowjackets touchdown score.
Ferris’ success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tristan Cook led the charge by throwing for 291 yards and 5 touchdowns on only 15 passes.
Another player making a difference was Kreshuan Waters, who picked up 194 receiving yards and 3 scores.
Ferris was charging into the backfield all evening and finished the game with seven sacks.
The Yellowjackets welcome the Ranchview Wolves at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4.
