The real threat to our Republic lies in misinformation

As I begin writing my column this week, thoughts of an undercover U.S. government sweeping things under a very thick rug keep creeping into the orifices of my mind.

Conspiracy theorist fact checkers who have consistently got the facts wrong at least since the COVID days have you noticed that about 99.9% of the theories have been uncovered as truth.

That’s right, even if you didn’t get the memo.

Then I ask myself – could certain groups of our illustrious “powers that be” have a claim to the moniker thereby calling themselves the Dastardly Deeds Are Us Club?

If you’re lost as to what I’m talking about, start with investigating chairwoman of the House Oversight Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets and Florida Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna’s multiple congressional hearings at the end of June.

The task force was tasked to investigate the CIA’s MK Ultra mind-control experiments and the unsolved assassination of President John F. Kennedy and how these two are related.

And while the story still sits as Oswald being the lone figure in the JFK story, rarely will you find a person who really believes that anymore.

First with MK Ultra. I’m not going to go into a lot of information about that because I wrote an entire column at www.elliscountypress.com/opinion/down-rabbit-hole-remember-kids-next-time-someone-tells-you-government-wouldnt-do-oh-yes – that’ll give you all the information you need other than the fact not a darn thing is being done even though the people in the know already know exactly all this “conspiracy theory” stuff sits in the category of “truth.”

The CIA MK-Ultra Project Hearings in June were titled Mind Control and Accountability: Uncovering the Truth of the CIA’s MK-Ultra Project.

Lawmakers and expert witnesses like authors Stephen Kinzer and Tom O’Neill discussed the CIA’s illegal experiments conducted between 1953 and 1973.

The task force focused on the widespread destruction of evidence, declassification and recently discovered files, uncovering the extent of the agency’s human experimentation and mind control programs without consent.

There was not a final answer by witnesses and lawmakers except it was confirmed that Congress and the American public were grossly misled by the CIA during the original 1977 investigation, and the program was far more successful – and its cover-up far deeper – than previously admitted.

Note to readers – this comes down to is your mind your own and if it were not, would you know the difference?

A few tidbits that will be further investigated is the fact expert witness O’Neill presented newly uncovered, unredacted archival records showing that the CIA successfully developed methods to use LSD and hypnosis to erase true memories and implant false ones without a subject’s knowledge. That therefore blew holes in the CIA narrative that MK-Ultra was a short-lived Cold War failure that produced no usable results.

The task force also formally categorized the CIA’s actions as “crimes against humanity” funded by American taxpayers. Chairwoman Luna and witnesses highlighted that in January 1973, CIA Director Richard Helms explicitly overruled his own records department to spend days burning 152 files to permanently hide the program’s full extent from future oversight.

Historian Kinzer testified the CIA intentionally framed the program’s chief chemist, Sidney Gottlieb, as a rogue actor and lone scapegoat, done to prevent the public from realizing the human experimentation took place across 80 American universities, prisons, and hospitals.

To take that a step further, JFK and other historic assassinations likely had a link to MK Ultra.

At the hearing witnesses gave evidence that there was a chance MK Ultra methods were used in a Jack Ruby connection and under oath, witnesses alleged that Dr. Louis Jolyon West – a prominent MK Ultra psychiatrist – was deployed by the intelligence community to assess Jack Ruby (the man who killed Lee Harvey Oswald) to induce a dissociative mental state and prevent Ruby from telling his story.

Charles Manson even came out in the wash in the hearings examining whether MK Ultra experimentation directly influenced the psychological manipulation techniques later used by Charles Manson to control his followers.

Regarding the JFK assassination records, that unopened can of worms actually began being discussed before last month in 2025 when Luna chaired hearings focused on Assessing Over 60 Years of the Federal Government’s Obstruction, Obfuscation, and Deception.

In May Luna threatened to issue a subpoena to the CIA after receiving sworn whistleblower testimony that the agency seized approximately 40 boxes of unclassified/declassifying JFK and MK Ultra records.

At the time the documents were under the jurisdiction of then-Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, causing concern over internal CIA operations and the agency’s continued reluctance to release sensitive historical data.

Gabbard’s office denied the claims that the CIA raided her office or forcibly seized the records and following the whistleblower testimony from James Erdman III – a former official on Gabbard’s declassification task force, her team pushed back against the narrative of a hostile “deep state” raid.

Rather than focusing on the missing MK-Ultra boxes during the May 2026 mess, Gabbard decided to use her final weeks as Director of National Intelligence to talk about releasing a massive, highly publicized list of documents concerning the origins of COVID-19, which she alleged showed a cover-up by our favorite doctor, the Fauci man himself.

There was also the discussion by Gabbard that the JFK/RFK items had been released to the tune of 10,000 pages to fulfill transparency orders.

However, even in 10,000 pages there was nothing, kind of like filibustering on paper on steroids.

The 10,000 pages released by Gabbard did little to offer anything new (bless the hearts of those people who had to read the tome) since no new assassin was named and yea, back we go where we started from with some intense reading thrown in for good measure.

The 10,000 pages actually focused more on the 1968 assassination of Senator Robert F. Kennedy (RFK), rather than JFK.

There were expert witnesses and investigators testifying to specific high-level CIA officials such as George Joannides, a covert CIA officer who ran psychological warfare operations in Miami and directed and funded a militant anti-Castro Cuban exile group called the DRE (Directorio Revolucionario Estudiantil) and James Angleton, the powerful, intensely secretive chief of the CIA’s Counterintelligence Staff from 1954 to 1974 as the men who hid the documents.

They are dead now and they both died pretty young too - in their 60s.

Testimonies indicated the files were concealed to protect the CIA, to hide CIA incompetence, and to protect covert programs like MK Ultra destroying record of how their psychological warfare and mind-control projects intertwined with operations targeting Cuba and domestic groups.

But alas, I see the light shining on the truth and I bet it sure is burning some people’s eyeballs.

Meanwhile, conspiracy theory pundits unite because don’t you just love it when a “plan that could never be” turns out to be a 20+ year planned project and psyop that involves black budget, CIA, men in black and the best kept secrets to the tune of much harm having been done to the American people.

While you’re having fun with that check out Project PaperClip, DARPA, Project HARP and Directed-Energy Weapons (DEWs).

Meanwhile, I’ll just go put on my black wig and dark glasses and sit smugly over here in the corner drinking my Earl Grey and wondering what the next “disclosure” will be if it even makes the news these days.
