WAXAHACHIE – Late last week County Court at Law No. 2 Judge Gene Calvert was rushed from his courtroom after a medical emergency in his courtroom.
Dispatch was called and emergency crews responded to the medical situation at the 40th district court in Waxahachie.
It was reported Calvert had collapsed and stopped responding and a defibrillator had to be used.
A source told ECP he has “been taken off the ventilator and is breathing on his own.
“His kidneys are continuing to improve. His scope and CT scan show no issues or other internal organs.
“He does have a fever and raised white blood count, which the medical team is watching closely, so our prayer is there is no infection and these will resolve promptly.”
Judge Calvert has served Ellis County Court at Law No. 2 since Jan. 1, 2003.
He has been in his position now for approximately 23 years.
