A group of young athletes from across Ellis County proved that determination, teamwork, and heart can carry you through even the toughest challenges.
The 10U Stampede softball team, made up entirely of Ellis County players, competed in an intense weekend tournament, playing a total of eight games, including five consecutive games on Sunday alone.
Despite the demanding schedule, the Stampede never backed down.
The team combined for an impressive .312 batting average across the weekend, tallying 44 hits and 73 runs while applying constant pressure on the bases.
Leading the charge was Lilly Brooks, who hit an outstanding .538 while also dominating in the circle with 22 strikeouts and a 2.00 ERA.
Adalexah Aguinaga matched that .538 average and brought power to the lineup, including a home run and multiple extra-base hits.
Finley Biffle delivered in big moments with a .444 average, but it was her performance in the circle that truly stood out.
Finley recorded an impressive 24 strikeouts, consistently challenging hitters and keeping her team in every game she pitched.
Braelyn Warren showed incredible toughness and leadership behind the plate, catching all five consecutive games on Sunday, a demanding role that requires grit, focus, and resilience.
She also stepped into the circle to pitch when her team needed her, continuing to give everything she had.
Adrianna Aguinaga was a force both offensively and defensively, driving in 9 RBIs and anchoring first base.
Time and time again, she came up big as a wall at first, saving errant throws and turning them into outs.
Ily Clark showed patience and discipline at the plate, consistently getting on base and helping spark offensive momentum.
Evelyn Castillo demonstrated true toughness and heart throughout the weekend. After taking a hit to the ribs in the field and being hit by a pitch at the plate, she never came off the field, continuing to battle, contribute RBIs, and support her team without hesitation.
EmmaLynn Kopaddy continued to compete every at-bat, showing determination and growth with each opportunity at the plate.
Georgia Griffith brought hustle and resilience, finding ways to get on base and contribute in key moments.
Ellie Garcia made several standout defensive plays at second base, coming up with key stops that helped shut down opposing rallies while also bringing energy and aggressiveness on the base paths.
But the story of the weekend went far beyond the numbers.
Game after game, these young athletes showed grit, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to each other. Whether it was a clutch hit, a key defensive play, or pushing through exhaustion late on Sunday, the Stampede demonstrated a level of toughness well beyond their years.
They also faced adversity, moments that didn't go their way, but used those experiences as opportunities to learn and grow stronger as both individuals and as a team.
“For this group, success isn’t measured by rings or trophies,” said their coach.
“It’s measured by growth, how they show up for each other, how they fight through challenges, and how they continue to improve every time they step on the field.”
With the season still ahead, this weekend served as a powerful reminder that something special is building in Ellis County.
And if their effort is any indication, the Stampede is just getting started.
