Alma’s City Council went into an executive session at this week’s city council meeting to discuss and consider accepting the resignation of the city’s Police Chief as well as appointing an Interim Police Chief.
BARDWELL

ENNIS
Ennis’ runoff election to elect a Mayor Pro Tem for the at-large position resulted in David Espedal receiving 59.98% of the votes for an unofficial win against Chad Wester who received 40.02% of the vote. Only 6.2% of voters took part in the runoff election.
GLENN HEIGHTS
The 2nd Annual Glenn Heights County Line Cookoff will be held over two days, March 27 and 28, at Glenn Heights Heritage Park. MAYPEARL
The Maypearl Police Department reminded everyone last week that if you need police services, please call the Ellis County Sheriff’s Dispatch at (972) 937-6060. The Maypearl Police Department currently has three full-time officers, typically with one officer on duty per shift, or officers rotating on call when no officer is scheduled. When citizens call the office number or an officer’s cell phone directly, it can delay the police response.
MIDLOTHIAN
The splash pad at Midlothian Community Park is now open for the season.
MILFORD
Apr. 11 is Milford’s Spring Clean-up day. The event will be from 8 a.m. to noon at the dumpster under the water tower. One load per household and proof of residency is required with either a current water bill, photo ID or a property tax statement.
OVILLA
The Ovilla Trash off and Extreme Green Event will be held on its rescheduled date of May 30 this year from 8 a.m. to noon. Hosted by the city and CWD, the event gives Ovilla residents an opportunity to dispose of items that are not typically accepted with regular curbside trash service. Residents may bring items such as brush and bulky waste, used electronics, household hazardous waste, appliances, tires and personal documents for shredding. The event queue will begin on Westlawn Drive.
PALMER
Palmer’s annual city-wide cleanup will be held on Friday, Apr. 4 from noon to 5 p.m. and Saturday, Apr. 25 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 130 W. FM 813 at the City Barn. Participants must have a current water bill account with the City of Palmer in order to take part in the citywide clean-up.
RED OAK
Last week, Red Oak held its meet-and-greet, swearing-in and pinning ceremony for the city’s newly appointed Police Chief Adrian Tijerina.
VENUS
Venus and Venus ISD are seeking election workers for the May 2 General Election. The location is the Venus Civic Center at 210 S. Walnut Street, Venus. They need one bilingual worker and Election Clerks at $15 hour, as well as two early voting ballot board members at $15 hour with dates/times TBD. WAXAHACHIE
Join the Waxahachie Police Department for its 9th Annual Cops & Kids Picnic. The event will be held on Apr. 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Getzendaner Park, 400 S Grand Ave, There will be 100+ bikes given away, Bounce Houses, a Petting Zoo, Face Painting, free hot dog meals and food trucks available on site to purchase additional food.
