MIDLOTHIAN – Ellis County will most certainly benefit from Google Data Centers recent $40B investment Texas.
The commitment is said to be through 2027, and the investment will not only include new data centers, but also energy projects and workforce development.
Ellis County Commissioner Louis Ponder, pct 3, attended the announcement and said, “It was a pleasure to represent Precinct 3, Midlothian and Ellis County as a whole today at the Google data center.
“Today Google committed to investing $40 billion, yes billion, not million in the great state of Texas.
“Unsure how much is in Ellis County, but I would expect it will be substantial.”
Ponder attended the announcement led by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and Google CEO Sundar Pichai in Midlothian.
Google also announced the Google Data Center in neighboring Red Oak was officially operational.
While the progress is transformative as Red Oak Mayor Mark Stanfill said the city has been changed from a small, one-stoplight community to a growing tech hub.
“Right now, we have two projects going on – they’ve completed one and the other is under construction – and we think there is going to be more in the future.”
Abbott said of the investment by Google, “They’re going to be needed for literally the rest of their lives. Google is now going to have a larger AI data center footprint, more so than any other state in the United States and more so than any other country in the entire world.”
