MAYPEARL – Maypearl ISD Superintendent Richie Bowling gave notice to the district on Nov. 10 that he would be leaving his job.
Bowling has been with the district for 10 years.
Bowling is heading back to Howe, Texas after being named the lone finalist for Howe ISD superintendent.
Prior to taking his job in Maypearl, Bowling had worked in Howe as an Elementary Principal, Middle School Principal, and Assistant Superintendent.
“While this is an exciting professional opportunity,” said Bowling, “it also brings with it deep reflection and mixed emotions, as Maypearl ISD and the community has been our home for more than a decade.”
Bowling listed his accomplishments while in Maypearl including advancing transportation and technology, creating the MISD police department, advancing the academic, athletic and fine arts programs, 504 programs, and even graduating several students with associate’s degrees or certifications in technical fields, other achievements.
He said the 2023 Bond project will be completed next year.
“The district grew these funds by over $2.1 million via interest on the $35 million during the planning, developing and construction stages.”
He assured as the search for his replacement got underway the Maypearl ISD board of trustees would take steps to ensure a “smooth and thoughtful leadership transition.”
Howe ISD is required by law to wait 21 days before officially hiring Bowling, but said the move is intended to occur at a special meeting Dec. 2.
