Alma will hold a toy drive on Dec. 9 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Alma City Hall, 104 Interurban Road. There will be photos with Santa and Mrs. Clause as well as photos sitting on a Texas Longhorn at the event and a bounce house, Christmas lights display, food and music.

FERRIS
This past week, Ferris held its annual Fallen Officer’s Memorial Ceremony downtown. Fallen officers Harry “Marty” Steinfeldt III and Constable Ben Wicker were remembered during the memorial service.
GLENN HEIGHTS
Hilco will be performing system upgrades that will require planned power outages in certain areas of Glenn Heights on Mon., Oct. 21 and Tues., Oct. 22. The city has advised residents they might see Hilco, Axis Power and Trinity trucks throughout the areas. A reminder to the city to have pets inside and gates unlocked during the scheduled outage times in order to help crews safely access equipment. For any questions call Hilco at (800) 338-6425.

Grand Prairie is having its first-ever Baywash Haunted Car Wash. Said to be a spine-chilling drive-through adventure filled with eerie effects, creepy surprises, and haunting fun – all from the safety of your car. Italy’s Annual Main Street Market and Community Wide Garage Sale will be Sat., Oct. 18 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be more than a dozen garage sales scattered around the town and booths set up in the pavilion downtown.

Midlothian’s Heritage Day will be Sat., Oct. 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Downtown Midlothian.
MILFORD
The Milford Public Works Department and Road Ranger are hosting Halloween Movie Night on Sat. Oct. 18. The movie, “Hotel Transylvania” and “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” will begin at 6 p.m. at Milford City Park with hot dogs, chips, drinks and popcorn provided.

Oak Leaf will hold its Fall Cleanup on Oct. 25 from 8 a.m. to noon. The city did not indicate where the event will be held – call city hall for more details.

Ovilla held its city council meeting on Tues., Oct. 14 with an item to discuss designating the Ovilla Garden Club as a recognized Community Partner Organization of the city.
PALMER
Palmer is continuing its upgrades on the city baseball field and the sprinkler system has now been repaired. Additionally, dirt was donated by the Palmer Municipal Development District to improve field conditions.
