WAXAHACHIE – Ellis County elected officials, community members and individuals from local organizations gathered last week for the official ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the new Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 sub-courthouse building.
The celebration and ribbon cutting was the official opening on Sept, 24 of the new Precinct 2 building, located at 2675 W US Hwy 287 Business in Waxahachie.
After the ribbon cutting, guests were given the opportunity to tour the new office, meet with officials, and enjoy light snacks and refreshments.
A press release from Ellis County Judge John Wray’s office stated the new facility will serve the citizens of Ellis County with enhanced accessibility and efficiency.
Jackie Miller, Jr is the Justice of the Peace in Precinct 2.
Casey Borders is the Constable, Precinct Two.
The areas covered under Precinct 2 include Avalon, Bee Creek, Bell Branch, Boz, Five Points, Forreston, Howard, Italy, Maypearl, Milford, parts of Mountain Peak, parts of Sardis, parts of Venus, Sterrett and most of Waxahachie.
Current JOP Butch Bryant, pct. 4, attended the ceremony and stated on his Facebook page, “Today was a monumental day for Ellis County, as it marked the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Ellis County Sub-Courthouse, a testament to the tireless efforts of all commissioners, past and present, as well as the previous and current county judges who made this vision a reality.”
