Now that the school year is underway, we’re excited to resume our regular monthly programs.

Here’s what’s happening at the library:

PRESCHOOL STORY TIME: Story Time is hosted every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Designed for children ages 2-5, this program features stories, songs, games and a snack. These activities allow children to develop social skills, expand their vocabulary, and nurture a love for reading. It’s a great opportunity for little ones to learn, play, and make new friends! At the end of each session, children choose a prize from the treasure chest to take home. Every Wednesday; continuing throughout the school year

DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: Embark on exciting journey into the world of Dungeons & Dragons, the classic tabletop role-playing game where imagination rules and the dice decide your fate. Whether you’re a seasoned player or brand new to the game, all adventurers are welcome! Recommended for ages 12 and up. You must register in advance – sign up at the front desk or call to reserve your spot. Next D&D session: Tuesday, Sept. 9.

AFTERSCHOOL GAME TIME: Looking for something fun to do after school? Stop by the library every other Thursdays from 3:30 – 5 p.m. We’ll have board games, card games, and video games available for all ages. Bring a friend or come and make a new one! Next Game Time: Thursday, Sept. 11.

HOOK & NEEDLE: Beginners and Experts welcome! Join fellow crafters twice a month on Mondays from 10 a.m. to noon in the library’s large meeting room. Bring your knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching, sewing, or any other fiber projects to work on while enjoying light refreshments and good company. Drop-ins are always welcome! Next meeting: Monday, Sept. 15.

LEGO LAB: Join us for an afternoon of fun, imagination, and creativity in our Lego Lab every other Thursdays from 3:30 – 5 p.m. Build something tall, wide or anything you can dream of using Lego blocks! Next Lego Lab: Thursday, Sept. 18.

NEW BOOKS: “Dead Mountain” by Douglas Preston, “The Poppy Fields” by Nikki Erick, “Run for the Hills” by Kevin Wilson, “Embrace the Serpent” by Sunya Mara, and “Mark Twain” (Dewey BIO) by Ron Chernow.

BOOK BLURB: “Mark Twain” by Ron Chernow, released May 2025. Before he was Mark Twain, he was Samuel Langhorne Clemens. Born in 1835, the man who would become America’s first, and most influential, literary celebrity spent his childhood dreaming of piloting steamboats on the Mississippi. But when the Civil War interrupted his career on the river, the young Twain went west to the Nevada Territory and accepted a job at a local newspaper, writing dispatches that attracted attention for their brashness and humor. It wasn’t long before the former steamboat pilot from Missouri was recognized across the country for his literary brilliance, writing under a pen name that he would immortalize.
