GLENN HEIGHTS – Glenn Heights couple Enrique and Ashley Torres recently traded in their military uniforms and time with the Air Force to launch the first Seniors Helping Seniors in Dallas and Ellis County.

Living in Glenn Heights since May 2024, the Torres’ are now in the process of looking for and hiring caregivers for their company, which will officially open June 16.

The business pairs active seniors with older adults in need of companionship and care, creating meaningful bonds through shared life experience.

As parents of two young sons, their dream is to build a business that gives older adults a sense of purpose while helping local veterans and seniors age with dignity and support.

They said they decided to pursue owning a franchise “because they wanted to use the funds they accumulated during their time in the Air Force for something that would allow them to continue to give back to their country.”

However, this time they wanted to give back and see the impact on the community where they lived while seeing the positive effects in person.

They chose Seniors Helping Seniors because the franchise gives them that opportunity, and additionally allows them to be their own bosses and spend more time with their two sons.

With more than two decades of combined military service, Enrique, a Georgetown, TX native grew up in Rockdale, TX, and graduated from Rockdale High School in the class of 2010. He joined the Air Force in August 2010.

Ashley was born in Brooklyn, NY, and was raised and graduated from Gateway High School in Kissimmee, FL in 2011. She was enlisted in the Air Force for 10 years.

The couple met while stationed in South Korea in 2013 and have been married since 2014.

Enrique and Ashley are eager for the community to know that even though they are not in the military anymore, they dedicated their lives to serving their country.

“However, we are now channeling that same passion into our community. The difference is, now we get to witness the impact firsthand,” they said.

As for how the community can help, let friends and family know there are two veterans who have just opened a non-medical in-home senior care business, and are looking to help seniors who live in Ellis County.

The Torres’ are also looking to provide jobs for seniors who are looking to fill their free time by helping people who were born to the same generation as them, providing them opportunities to not only fill their free time, but also make money and possibly new friendships.
