RED OAK – A 10th grade transgender high school English teacher, Zachary Sandri, resigned from his position with the Red Oak ISD last week.
His resignation was the result of questions being raised regarding a social media post in which he said he feels “gender euphoria” when students call him “ma’am.”
“In light of recent attention, Red Oak High School English teacher Sandri has resigned, effective March 31, 2025,” Beth Trimble, CPC Red Oak ISD, chief communications officer said.
“Any other information is a personnel matter, and we are not at liberty to discuss.”
Sandri is a self-described “transgender” individual who goes by “Rosalynn” or “Rosie.”
On Sandri’s TikTok, the day he resigned the comment was made, “I just had to resign from my job, so I hope ya’ll will indulge me the cigarette.
“I feel defeated, I feel completely defeated like I just laid down.
“But I know what we are here for is trans girl joy, and I do have some of that for you this morning.”
State Rep. Brian Harrison, whose district includes Red Oak, told one news outlet he was demanding the teacher be immediately terminated.
Out-of-state US Representatives also apparently made comments touting disbelief and making comments such as those who are confused about the basic facts of human biology should not be teaching.
However, Red Oak ISD did not terminate Sandri. The Red Oak ISD Board Policy Manual prohibits against discrimination because of sex, and that includes discrimination on the basis of an individual being gay or transgender – Bostock v. Clayton County, Georgia, 140 S. Ct. 1731 (2020)
Therefore, demanding the immediate termination of the Red Oak ISD employee could have been a possible discrimination situation costing the district money.
Instead, the district followed board policy.
Sandri’s resignation was accepted by the district.
