RED OAK – Brett Haugh is returning to Hawk Nation, this time as the principal of Red Oak High School.
He previously served as a Red Oak HS teacher/coach, and then assistant principal from 2014-2018.
Since then, Haugh has served as principal of Italy High School, Mabank High School, and Redwater High School.
Haugh graduated from Texas A&M Texarkana with his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and Lamar University with his Master’s Degree in Educational Administration. He holds multiple Teacher Certifications including EC-12 Principal and Superintendent, and is a member of the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals.
Haugh started his career in education at Liberty-Eylau ISD as a biology teacher, coaching football and track, and as the head soccer coach. He held similar roles in Bryant Public Schools in Arkansas before coming to Red Oak for four years.
For the first two years, Haugh taught Integrated Physics and Chemistry, assisted with football and soccer, then served as head soccer coach and athletic academic coordinator.
For the second two years, he served as an assistant principal at the campus supervising personnel, monitoring programs, and building relationships with students, parents, staff, and the community.
“My core values as a principal are to raise academic standards, inspire teachers, and work with all stakeholders toward the goal of student learning,” said Haugh.
“As an instructional leader, I want to collaborate with teachers, assess data, and utilize best practices to promote learning.
“As a collaborative team, administration and teachers work together to successfully continue programs at the campus level, increasing the level of academic performance and rigor in the classrooms, and aligning instructional plans with the educational philosophy ‘teachers are the facilitators of learning’.”
“We are very excited to have Mr. Haugh return to Red Oak ISD as the leader of Red Oak High School,” said Superintendent Brenda Sanford.
“He brings campus leadership experience, has a history with the District that will accelerate his assimilation, and is ready to listen, learn, and lead our Hawks to the next level.”
Haugh will meet with current Red Oak High School staff informally in the next couple of weeks. A parent, student, and community Meet & Greet will be planned for this summer.
He and his wife Elizabeth, also an educational administrator, have three boys who will be attending ROISD schools after they move back this summer.
His start date will be in early July when leadership staff returns from summer break.
