WILMER – Wilmer employee Angie Pon was recognized by the Wilmer City Council this month in honor of her receiving her Level II certification through the Municipal Court Clerk Certification Program.
The program is part of the Texas Court Clerks Association Education Center and Texas State University in San Marcos.
Pon has been with the City of Wilmer for over 22 years, and she has been the head municipal court clerk since 2007.
The Municipal Court Clerk Certification Program was established overall to encourage the importance of professional development and ongoing educational growth within the court clerk profession.
The Wilmer City Council enacted an ordinance establishing its municipal court as a court of record.
The impetus to this ordinance was the hiring of Judge Henry Campbell. Having certified court staff was the next step in the process.
“As our city continues to grow, we are proud and delighted that our employees are not only dedicated to the importance of what they do within the city and the necessity of professional development, but also the importance of their own personal growth within their jobs,” said Wilmer Mayor Sheila Petta..
“I want to congratulate Angie for her leadership and initiative to continue her growth in her profession and in the City of Wilmer.”
