WILMER – Business leaders, politicians and community supporters were on hand earlier this month when Trina Solar opened its 1.35 million square foot solar photovoltaic manufacturing facility in Wilmer.
The company is planning to provide 1,500 jobs to the area as well as investing over $200 million in property and equipment.
Wilmer is the first location in which Trina Solar has brought its module factory to the Western Hemisphere.
The opening event offered those in attendance a chance to get a first-hand look at the state of the art facility. In 2024 the facility will begin to produce a 5GW of innovative large power output Vertex modules using a 210mm large-sized wafer and an advanced solar industry technology using polysilicon from both the United States and Canada.
With more than 150 guests in attendance, keynote speakers for the opening included Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price, State Representative (D-109), Wilmer Mayor Sheila Petta, Dr. Joseph Seabrooks, president of Dallas College, Steve Modory, co-managing partners of Champion Partners and Steve Zhu, president of Trina Solar US.
