RED OAK – A woman was arrested on Wednesday, Dec. 6 in the killing of an acquaintance days earlier in the Red Oak area of Ellis County, according to the county sheriff’s office.
Deputies responded about 10 a.m. Monday to a home in the 1000 block of Vinson Lane and found a man lying face down in the front yard with apparent gunshot wounds.
The victim was identified as 54-year-old Jess Deon Dotson of Red Oak.
Investigators later identified 33-year-old Yaralitza Dee Shaw of Lewisville as a person of interest.
She told detectives she killed Dotson, according to the sheriff’s office.
Investigators obtained a warrant for her arrest and she was taken into custody.
Shaw remained jailed in Ellis County as of last Thursday on a $500,000 bond.
