ELLIS COUNTY – Ellis County Judge Todd Little and the Ellis County Commissioner’s voted unanimously on an item at a meeting earlier this month to set June 11 as the date to consider a petition to establish Emergency Services District #10.
June 11 is a regularly scheduled Commissioner’s Court meeting.
The time of the meeting will be 148 days before the election, the requirement is no more than 180 days before the November 2024 election.
Ellis County Judge Todd Little mentioned different tax rates could be set in the ESD district if approved.
It was noted in this case the ask will be 7.5% to constituents in that fire district.
The Emergency District #10 coverage area is located in Commissioner Lane Grayson’s District 2. It will serve the far southwest where the boundary will be Chambers Creek.
The east side will follow a hard boundary up the railroad tracks to 985, from 985 around Bardwell Dam Road and all the land on the far east.
On the northside all land adjacent to Ennis’ ETJ will be in included in the ESD #10 area.
The work that has gone behind this final petition to establish the #10 ESD has taken several years to complete.
Grayson said, “This is impactful for the community.”
