FERRIS – Last month, Ferris ISD Trustee Mike Moffitt resigned from his trustee position after a Special Called school board meeting.

As reported, the resignation was due to issues that included circumstances that were not revealed.

Actions taken in Executive Session disturbed Moffitt; these actions were not made public.

Executive Sessions are not made public during meetings by law, but actions taken from the results of meetings are required to be made public.

On Oct. 5, The Ellis County Press requested again from Ferris ISD Superintendent Hector Madrigal to respond to information “regarding the special session” asking specifically “the results of the item on the agenda regarding personnel matters.”

Reporter Rita Cook requested, “Perhaps nothing happened as a result of the personnel item on the agenda.

“If that is the case, please tell me specifically that there was no action taken on that item.”

Madrigal did not respond.

Over the weekend, an email was sent to this newspaper, once again involving the Ferris ISD School District superintendent and board of trustees.

The email read, “Save FERRIS ISD. Superintendent and School Board have been reported to TEA. Letters have been sent to the school board expressing concerns with Hector’s hiring practices, kickbacks by hiring companies of friends and family, violating business policies, violating Texas Education Code 38.006 (b)(1), bullying tactics that violate the districts safe workplace plans, harassment, sharing of confident personnel matters with community members, etc.”

Madrigal was contacted for comment and did not respond.
