WILMER – As many as 3,500 people and local dignitaries from around the Best Southwest joined the City of Wilmer’s 3rd Annual Sparks 4th of July celebration and fireworks event on Saturday, July 1.
Mayor Sheila Petta said, “We are excited that residents from not only Wilmer but many surrounding cities joined the Independence Day celebrations this year.
“Every year our Sparks 4th of July Celebration gets bigger and better.”
The spectacular event was a 16-minute fireworks show with music, as well as three hours of fun before the show began.
The city had seven food trucks, four craft vendors, a foam cannon, a giant hamster ball racetrack, an axe throwing inflatable, an inflatable obstacle course, a DJ, dance contests, face painting, resource tables, cooling tents, and plenty of parking.
Also, photo backgrounds were made by Wilmer’s Senior Services Department and Public Works.
Mayors from the Best Southwest Cities of Duncanville, Glenn Heights and Lancaster, plus a plethora of city council members also attended the evening’s celebration.
