RED OAK – Red Oak ISD was recently presented with the Annie Ozella Jones Memorial Student Scholarship as part of the district’s dedication to employee safety recognition from Claims Administrative Services, Inc..
The company provides workers’ compensation programs to schools and colleges to assist in creating a safer work environment and reduce insurance costs.
Red Oak ISD received the Billy Hibbs Safety Award for exemplary safety practices and for having the most improved loss ratio for the 2021-2022 school year. The award comes with a $500 scholarship for the District to present to a senior student. The funds must be used for studies at an institute of higher learning or an accredited vocational school.
CAS awards 30 total scholarships each year to high school students across Texas based on UIL classifications and for member districts having one of the following: lowest loss ratio, most improved loss ratio, or best three-year loss ratio.
“We want to thank CAS for the award and the scholarship, but we also thank our employees for being safe on the job,” stated Superintendent Brenda Sanford. “We encourage staff to prevent workplace injuries by reporting any workplace safety concerns, using proper equipment, and contacting maintenance for any repairs. I also want to thank our Benefits & Leave Coordinator Maricela Torres for her diligence in encouraging a safe work environment for all our staff.”
