WILMER – The City of Wilmer began accepting applications in early November to mid-December for Wilmer’s Initiative to Spread Hope Program.
Also known as the Mayor’s W.I.S.H. Program, parents/legal guardians applied with their child’s top three wishes under $25. The city distributed the gifts in two sessions on Monday, Dec. 19 at the city’s community center.
“Serving our community is a top priority through Wilmer’s Initiative to Spread Hope Program, and we are able to bring cheer to our families this holiday season,” said Wilmer Mayor Sheila Petta.
The W.I.S.H. Program provided approximately 250 children gifts. Gifts included items such as bikes, books, clothes, electronics, dolls, blankets and more.
The program initially began in December, 2016 when Mayor Petta was serving as Mayor Pro Tem, with the assistance of Councilmember Candy Madrigal.
