OVILLA – The scene was a Christmas celebration at Ovilla Heritage Park in the downtown area of Ovilla this past week.

The city’s Christmas tree was officially lit, and Santa stopped by to hear the children’s wish list.

Ovilla Mayor Richard Dormier said, “We had a great time at the annual Christmas tree lighting in Heritage Park this year.”

That was seconded by Ovilla City Manager Pam Woodall.

“The tree lighting was amazing. Our Parks Department had the grounds prepared and decorated beautifully.

“Music was great, and happy children helped the mayor light the tree.”

The Ovilla Service League provided free hot chocolate and cookies/pastries for those in attendance too.

“We appreciate the hard work of the city staff and Ovilla Service League putting this together,” Dormier concluded.

“The crowd this year was one of our largest, and we look forward to a blessed and happy new year.”

And as in years past, the Ovilla Police Department is also having its toy drive. From now until Friday, Dec. 16, the police department is accepting donations of new, unwrapped toys.

All donations are being forwarded to the Salvation Army of Ellis County or any children they find in need of toys for Christmas.

Please drop your donations at the Ovilla Police Department, 105 S. Cockrell Hill Rd., Ovilla, TX, Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
