    WAXAHACHIE – The Red Oak High School and Middle School cross country teams ran in the Waxahachie Life School Cross Country Stampede on Thursday, Sept. 22.

    The meet was held at the Waxahachie Sports Complex, with Class 5A and 6A girls starting the meet at 8 a.m. The boys Class 5A and 6A runners left the gate as the girls finished their last mile.

    Although the course was fairly flat, the extended summer heat, humidity and bright sunshine made the 5K run tough for everyone.

    The coaches met their runners near the last 1/2 mile mark to give them words of encouragement and finish strong.

    The meet drew teams from all over North Texas and many schools from Ellis County.
