ENNIS – Six days, 600 miles last week, the Texas Brotherhood Ride came through Ennis for the night before continuing their ride to Houston.
What is the Texas Brotherhood Ride?
A group of 1st responders made up of Police, Fire, and EMS bike riders with a mission.
According to the Ennis PD Facebook, Matt Drum of the Texas Brotherhood Ride said each rider is giving of their personal time, talent, and money to raise money in honor of the 1st responders who have died in the line of duty the previous year.
This year, there are 32 fallen 1st responders in Texas being remembered.
The group has been riding every year since 2014, with the goal to raise money for the families of the fallen.
This year the riders have covered 600 miles between Sept. 3-9, covering 80 to 100 miles per day.
The group started the ride in Texarkana heading to Dallas, and then on to Ennis where they were scheduled to stay at the Ennis Public Safety building.
While in Ennis, they were able to enjoy a meal with other 1st responders and an early breakfast before heading back on the road to Huntsville and then to Houston.
“All of us 1st responders in Ennis want to thank these men and women for their commitment to helping the families left behind to deal with the loss of those who gave their all,” the Ennis PD Facebook said. “Let us never forget their sacrifice or their names.”
