KILLEEN – The Red Oak Hawks made the long trip to Killeen to take on the Ellison Eagles for another district game on Friday, Sept. 16.
The Hawks heading into this game were averaging around 39 points per game, but against Ellison they came up short on their average.
The defense played well and had the Eagles QB on the run most of the game. Junior Tanner Thompson (15) had 3-sacks in the game adding to his 7 total tackles.
QB Kendall Brown (14) came in for Jaylon Robinson (10) and went 7-13 and threw for 153 yards. Moses Martindale (8) and all-purpose Chris Martinez (13) led the Hawks in rushing, 58 and 64 respectively.
Martinez also had 86 yards receiving including one TD with most coming on one deep ball down the sideline where Martinez somehow kept his balance and scored.
Red Oak has a bye this week and will resume play on Sept. 30 at home when they host the Killeen Shoemaker Wolves.
Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Billy Goodloe Stadium.
