ENNIS – Ennis Police Department welcomed two new leaders to its team this month.

Assistant Police Chief Michael Godrey comes to the department from Rowlett where he retired as the police chief in that city in April of this year.

Godfrey began his career with the Terrell Police Department in 1996 before moving to Rowlett.

He is a graduate from the Leadership Command College through the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas as well as the FBI National Academy and the Police Executive Research Forum. Godfrey has a master’s degree in Criminal Justice and a Master Peace Officer license.

He also holds a certified Public Manager designation through Texas State University and is a member of the International Association of Police Chiefs and the Texas Police Chief’s Association.

The department also welcomed Lieutenant David Williams, who has over 27 years of law enforcement experience.

Williams began his career in the Detention Bureau in the Tarrant County Sheriff’s office and most recently was with the DeSoto Police Department as a sergeant. In DeSoto he worked in the roles of patrol sergeant, field training coordinator, public information officer community services, recruiting, and background investigations. He also managed the Professional Standards Division in Desoto involving Internal Affairs and the Training and Records Division.

He has a Master Peace Officers License and he graduated from the International Law Enforcement Administration’s Schools of Supervision and the Forensic Science Institute
