OVILLA – A new pavilion in Ovilla is being funded by the city’s Economic Development Corporation (EDC) and will be a win-win for all the residents in the city.

Funded for a cost of $300,000, the groundbreaking for the pavilion took place last Monday with the Ovilla City Council and EDC members in attendance.

According to Ovilla City Manager Pam Woodall, the pavilion will be complete – weather permitting – around late May to early June 2022.

The new facility will be used for everything Ovilla including Heritage Day, special events, baseball, family parties, holidays, picnics – etc.

The pavilion was part of the fiscal year budget 2021-2022 and is being constructed by Lea Park & Play, Inc.

“The Pavilion and new restrooms are the next step in upgrading our parks for the use of our citizens,” said Ovilla Mayor Richard Dormier.

“A few years ago, we had a Park Master Plan prepared including the Pavilion and a sidewalk system connecting the ball fields at City Hall to Heritage Park.

“Once the new sidewalks are constructed as budgets allow, the new parking lot across from City Hall will provide a central location to park and walk to both park areas.”
