ELLIS COUNTY – The Ellis County primary election results from Tuesday, March 1 are in with the unofficial results expectedly seeing current Governor Greg Abbott and Beta O’Rourke taking the lead in Ellis County.

Abbott received 63.07% of the vote in the county against his seven opponents. Don Huffines came in a very distant second to Abbott.

Lt. Governor Dan Patrick received 77.10% of the vote in the Republican Primary in the Ellis County and it is likely there will be an overall Democratic runoff in the state before the general election.

Lee Merrick took the Democratic Primary race for Attorney General in Ellis County.

Attorney General Ken Paxton received 43.16% of the vote for his seat in Ellis County and he will see a runoff with George P. Bush on May 24.

Jake Ellzey took the Republican Primary with a strong victory of 81.93% to keep his seat in the US House of Representatives District 6. He defeated opponents James Buford and Bill Payne.

Democratic County Chair Kelly Blackburn also won unopposed in the Democratic primary election in Ellis County. On the Republican side Randy Bellomy ran unopposed with the two taking their next steps to the General election for a final victory.

Criminal Court of Appeals, Place 5’s Republican Primary win was Scott Walker who had 56.55% of the vote to Clint Morgan’s 43.45%.

The Board of Education District 14 Republican Primary results saw Evelyn Brooks with 51.08% to Sue Melton-Malone’s 48.92% of the vote.

For Ellis County, Judge Todd Little saw a win with 67.91% of the vote against his opponent former Ellis County Sheriff Chuck Edge who came in with 32.09% of the vote in the Republican Primary.

The County Tax Assessor-Collector, unexpired Term lead went to Richard Rozier with 57.90% with his opponent Paul Christenson receiving 42.10% of the vote. Rozier currently holds that office.

Kyle Butler will keep his seat as County Commissioner in Precinct 4 with a lead of 61.40% of the vote against opponents Rick Ridgeway with 34.13% of the vote and Dennis DeWeerd with 4.47%.

In the Justice of the Peace, Precinct 3 race Sharon Levingston ran unopposed in the Democratic Primary and Dan Cox in the Republican Primary – both will run for that seat in the general election.

In Precinct 4 for Justice of the Peace Robert Shelton will face off with Republican Primary victor Louis Ponder who came in with a 51.98% of the vote against opponent Cody McKinney who came in close with 36.60% and Danell Winter with 11.42%.

All 10 propositions that were on Tuesday’s ballot saw a win in the Primary – most with a resounding yes of at least a 90% approval.
