WILMER – City officials are accepting applications for Wilmer’s Initiative to Spread Hope program.

“Serving our community is a top priority through the ‘Wilmer’s Initiative to Spread Hope’ (W.I.S.H.) program and we are able to bring cheer to our families this holiday season,” said Wilmer Mayor Sheila Petta.

City residents can apply through Dec. 17 at the utility billing window at City Hall, 128 N. Dallas Ave.

Families are asked to provide their child’s top three wishes under $25.

Anyone who submits an application will be required to provide proof of residency.

City officials ask residents to not request holiday assistance through its program if one has, or will, request support from another organization to allow for as many children as possible to have Christmas.

The gifts are expected to be handed out Wednesday, Dec. 22.

Last year, the gifts were delivered to homes.

However this year, families will have the chance to pick up the gifts and meet Santa, officials said.
