HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL WEEK 9: Waco La Vega 40, Midlothian Heritage 28

WACO – Kaden Brown ran for a pair of touchdowns and passed for another, but it was not enough as Midlothian Heritage (6-2, 2-1) fell to Waco La Vega in a 5-4A Division I contest at Willie Williams Stadium.

Brown, a junior, had TD runs of 22 and 4 yards, and connected with Jason Barela on a 2-yard scoring pass with no time on the clock in the second quarter to forge a 21-21 tie.

Barela’s 4-yard TD run to open the second half gave Midlothian a 28-21 advantage. However, La Vega scored 19 unanswered points to come away with the win over Heritage, which was No. 4 in the SportsDay HS 4A/3A area rankings and No. 7 in the state 4A Division I poll.

Brown finished with 172 yards passing and another 125 rushing. Heritage could not contain La Vega freshman Bryson Roland, who had four TD runs and finished with 264 yards rushing on 29 carries.
