RED OAK – People came from high and low this past Saturday night to take flapper to the next level.

The Red Oak Chamber of Commerce was back after a year of COVID-19 shutdown holding its 2021 Auction and Dinner, themed “The Great Gatsby Gala.”

The event was presented by Linebarger Attorneys at Law.

The annual auction and dinner is known as the City of Red Oak’s premier “black-tie” event, but with the challenges in 2020, the 2021 gala was even more anticipated.

Red Oak Chamber of Commerce member Doug Hunt, Access Storage/Owners Management Co., said the weekend was a fun event.

“Great to see the Red Oak Chamber starting to get out in person again,” Hunt said. “Hardly a mask in sight.”

This year, the roaring 20’s was revisited at the Red Oak Municipal Building, which was decorated from floor to ceiling with black, white, and gold decor.

Those in attendance were asked to come dressed in their best elegant outfit, and be ready for a night of roaring 20’s merriment.

According to Hunt, he surmised the Chamber ended up bringing in about $30,000.

Red Oak Chamber of Commerce personnel did not respond by press time with an exact amount of what was raised Saturday night.

“The room was full and the auction went well,” Hunt added.

He said there were about 150 guests in attendance.

Hunt has been a member of the chamber since 2009 when he opened an Access Storage in the city, and was in fact the winner of the 50/50 raffle, the prize amount being $720.

He graciously returned the money back to the Chamber.

The money raised by the auction will go towards the operation of the Red Oak Chamber of Commerce overall.

“The mission of the Chamber is to help businesses in Red Oak grow and also to educate the business community,” Hunt concluded.

The Red Oak Chamber of Commerce has been in existence for the past 50 years.
