RED OAK, TX – The Red Oak Hawks wasted no time last Friday night to jump out in front of the Mansfield Legacy Broncos.

After receiving the opening kickoff, the Hawks needed only one play from scrimmage and 13 seconds to go up 7-0. A deep throw by Hawks’ QB Jaylon Robinson (10) to WR Jace Wyatt (12) set the tone for Friday night’s contest.

The Broncos had numerous penalties and could not get anything going on offense until late in the 1st half. Meanwhile, the Hawks offense put up 28 points in the first half and took a 28-14 lead into halftime.

The 2nd half was a closer ball game for a bit. The Broncos closed within 7 before the Hawks answered and went up by 14 points again. That would be the closest Legacy would get.

The Hawks defense took control of the game into the 4th and forced numerous long 3rd and 4th down situations. The Hawk’s secondary was ready and knocked down a couple of passes in the end zone. The defensive line and linebackers stuffed the run and put a ton of pressure on the Legacy QB to force many incomplete passes.

The Hawks get the 49-28 district win, and first year Head Football Coach, Tony Holmes gets his first win as a Hawk.

The Hawks take their 1-0 district record on the road this Friday as they travel to Birdville ISD Stadium and take on the Richland Royals, who are coming off a 45-29 loss against Colleyville Heritage.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
