GREENVILLE — Jackson Gilkey threw two touchdown passes as Ennis shut out district foe Greenville 28-0 on Friday night at T.A. Cotton Ford Stadium. Ennis is 4-0, 1-0 in District 8-5A Division II. Greenville is 1-3, 0-1.
After a scoreless first quarter, Jace Berry and T.T. Cox ran for touchdowns and Gilkey threw an 18-yard scoring pass to freshman Lamarion McGowan for a 21-0 halftime lead.
Skylan Simmons finished the scoring with a 28-yard touchdown catch from Gilkey, who has thrown for nine TDs this season.
Ennis has scored 142 points in four games. Its defense held Greenville to 205 yards in Ennis’ first shutout, in part by bottling up Greenville’s Ottagus Johnson. He entered the game with 415 rushing yards in three games but carried 15 times for just 39 yards.
