    ENNIS – The Ennis Lions opened with two quick touchdowns in the 1st quarter, putting the Red Oak Hawks in a big hole against the #7 ranked 5A team in the state.

    The Hawks defense found itself out of position and chasing plays until midway through the 2nd quarter.

    The Hawks offense finally got on track late in the 1st quarter, getting within 7 points, and had a chance to tie the game from the 2-yard line late in the 2nd, but didn’t have a timeout left to stop the clock.

    Ennis came out in the 2nd half and marched down the field for another touchdown. The Hawks would stay close until the 4th when a turnover gave the Lions great field position, and they took advantage going up two touchdowns.

    Red Oak scored again in the 4th quarter but could not overcome the two-touchdown lead by the Lions.

    Red Oak returns home this Friday night to host the Sachse Mustangs, who lost to Coppell last Friday.

    Sept. 3 is also Senior Night. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Billy Goodloe Stadium.
