ENNIS – The Ellis County Special Investigations Unit Narcotics Division executed a search warrant and arrest warrant this past Friday afternoon in the 1000 block of Edgewood Street in Ennis.
At around 3:30 p.m., Ennis resident Ernesto “Checho” Garcia was arrested by the special investigations team on a pardon and parole violation out of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
An additional search warrant during the arrest also led investigators to find a substantial amount of firearms, firearm ammunition, cocaine, methamphetamine and liquid THC (Cannabis/Marijuana).
Garcia was charged with Parole Violation with no bond; Manufacturing/Delivery CS pg 1 >=1g<4g – $10,000; Manufacturing/Delivery CS pg 1 >=1g<4g – $10,000; Manufacturing/ Delivery CS pg 2 or 2-A >=4g<400g – $100,000 and possession of Marijuana >4oz <=5 lbs – $10,000.
“We at the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office have a dedicated unit whose primary responsibility is narcotics investigations and enforcement,” Ellis County Sheriff Brad Norman said.
“They are our Special Investigation Unit.
“They do an outstanding job, and I could not be prouder of their efforts.
“They work hard so you and your children can stay safe. My hat’s off to the Special Investigation Unit.”
Garcia is being held in Waxahachie in the Wayne McCollum Detention Center.
The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office extended their thanks as well to the Ennis Police Department for their assistance in Garcia’s apprehension.
