RED OAK – The Red Oak City Council kicked off its meeting last week with a nod toward the city’s July 26 Red Oak White and Blue event.

Red Oak Mayor Mark Stanfill was awarded the Community Builder Award by the Masons of Texas.

The Masons of Texas give two awards each year to men who are not part of the organization. Stanfill had eight nominations from members of the Masonic Lodge.

A dog hotel, which will be located off 301 S. HWY 342 across from the 7-Eleven is an idea developed by Gracie Cleveland who had a vision this dog hotel would benefit pet owners in the city of Red Oak. The item was approved 5-0.

The business will be  located in a small lot and used primarily for take-out and drive-thru orders, with limited seating. A proposal for a barber shop was approved 4-1 and will be located at 309 S. HWY 342.

It was also reported the City of Red Oak has seen an 18.5% reduction in traffic accidents.

With it being summer, the city’s library reopened by appointment only on June 21.
