ELLIS COUNTY – The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office arrested Waxahachie resident Jeremy Michael Lawson, 46, last week in relation to a possession of child pornography case they had been alerted to in January.

He was charged with, “Possession with intent to promote child pornography,” and is being held on a $500,000 bond.

According to a statement from the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office, it was in late January 2021 the sheriff’s office received information related to a possible child pornography case.

The information CID investigators were given included a specific Internet Protocol address that had uploaded and downloaded videos and images of what appeared to be children involved in sexual acts. The images and videos had been sent and received through a social media platform.

Sheriff investigators, along with special agents with the Texas Department of Public Safety and Homeland Security executed a search warrant in the 10,000 block of Baucum Road in Waxahachie in response to the investigation.

As a result, more than a hundred images of child pornography were discovered on electronic devices found within the residence.

“These images and videos were linked to a resident of the home, identified as an adult – Jeremy Michael Lawson,” the sheriff’s office reported.

Ellis County Sheriff Brad Norman, who was sworn in after the last election, had made protecting children and searching out those who prey on children a priority if elected.

Norman is keeping to his promise and said, “It is a priority of the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office to protect our children and actively go after those who prey on our children.

“This includes sex traffickers, child predators, human traffickers and those involved in child pornography.

“We will not tolerate such behavior/activities and will proactively pursue such offenders.”

The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office send accolades to the special agents with the Texas Department of Public Safety, Homeland Security, and the Waxahachie Police Department for their help in the investigation and arrest.
