WILMER – Wilmer Police Chief Victor Kemp swore in three new law enforcement officers at last week’s city council meeting.
“I am excited to welcome these three new officers to our Wilmer PD family and very thankful they chose us,” Kemp said.
“As the City of Wilmer continues to grow my goal is to recruit and hire quality law enforcement officers that our city can be proud of and officers who value our mission to ‘Serve with Honor and Protect with Vigilance.’”
Officer Mark Mutina has five years in law enforcement and is a graduate of Navarro College Police Academy.
He most recently worked for Carthage Police Department.
Officer Samantha Bear is a new recruit and graduate of Navarro College Police Academy.
Officer Isabel Pena is also a new recruit and graduate of East Texas Police Academy.
Pena carries a Jailers License in addition to her law enforcement license and comes to Wilmer from the Navarro County Sheriff Department where she served as a jailer.
“Officer Jonathan Mutina will serve along side of his brother, Officer Ryan Mutina, who has served with us over two years,” Kemp added.
“Together they have about nine years of combined experience. All three officers have numerous family members and friends who are long time police officers and we are thrilled to have them.”
The Wilmer Police Department currently has 18 full-time officers and two Reserve Officers.
There are also four full-time dispatchers, one part-time dispatcher and one warrants clerk.
Kemp said in the near future the department will also be adding an animal control officer and an administrative assistant.
“The department currently has three police officer positions open,” Kemp concluded.
“If you would like to join our growing team please contact us by email at wilmerpolice@cityofwilmer.net or call the Wilmer Police Department at (972)441-6565.”
