ELLIS COUNTY – One person was seriously hurt in a shooting Sunday at an outdoor concert south of Ferris, according to the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office.

The shooting occurred around midnight at a property in the 600 block of Risinger Road.

The male victim, who was not identified, was shot once in the abdomen and taken by CareFlite to Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. He was reported in stable condition as of Sunday afternoon.

According to officials, there were approximately between 2,000 to 3,000 people at the concert, on land contracted out to a music festival organization.

Investigators said the victim was hit after a disturbance between attendees at the concert led to one person shooting multiple rounds into the crowd.

Officials said as the shots were being fired, a mass of people fled the scene.

Authorities are still searching for the shooter, who witnesses described as an Hispanic man in his early 20s, with a thin mustache and black hair.

His hair was shaved on the sides, with a “bowl-type length on top” according to officials. He was also reported wearing blue jeans and a black shirt at the time.

Officials are asking anyone with any information to contact Case Agent Richard “Chip” Hundley at 972-825-4965 or richard.hundley@co.ellis.tx.us.
