WAXAHACHIE – Ellis County Patrol Deputies were called to an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on Monday at 6:42 p.m.

The juvenile, whose identity was not released, was shot in the 300 block of Chapel Hill Lane in Waxahachie.

Sheriff’s Office Media Relations Sergeant Joe M. Fitzgerald said the incident on Chapel Hill Lane was in the county not the city, which is the reason Sheriff’s deputies handled the shooting.

On scene the deputies, along with American Medical Response, discovered the lone male juvenile who had a single gunshot wound to his leg.

Fitzgerald said there were witnesses.

Medical personnel and deputies rendered aid to the juvenile, and he was taken by ambulance to Children’s Medical Center in Dallas.

He was admitted and is in stable condition.

Witnesses reported a silver sedan, make and model unknown, slowly drive pass the home on Chapel Hill Lane just moments before the shooting occurred.

Witnesses said the shots came from the vehicle, which fled the area traveling south on Chapel Hill Lane after the shooting.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Investigator Brian McIntosh at 972.825.4919 or brian.mcintosh@co.ellis.tx.us.
