FERRIS – Current Director of Unincorporated Area Services at Dallas County, Mike Grace will be joining the City of Ferris as the new Assistant City Manager & Chief Operating Officer.
In his current job, Grace is responsible for developing, implementing, guiding, and managing the department’s and county operational framework. He is also familiar with inter-departmental collaboration, extra-territorial agreements, and inter-jurisdictional coordination between Dallas County and various municipalities.
He has had responsibility for developing initiatives and partnerships focused on unincorporated areas of Dallas County and 20 years in the role of civic engagement, local government, land entitlement, business and operational development and management, process improvement, public policy advocacy and regulatory enforcement.
“We are excited to have Mike join the City of Ferris team,” Ferris City Manager Brooks Williams said.
“Over the last nine-months, the city has made a concentrated effort to improve our organizational bench strength to meet the challenges we face as a city – from the past, present, and preparing for the future.”
A Dallas native, Grace has a long list of notable accomplishments. He holds a master’s degree in Regional and City Planning, a bachelor’s degree in Geography and an economic development certificate from the University of Oklahoma’s highly regarded Economic Development Institute.
“Efforts on housing, land use, open space, transportation and design must become more comprehensive,” Grace said.
“To grow, our leaders must recognize not just the importance of addressing each issue, but how they link together.”
Grace will take his new position in Ferris August 10.
“Mike brings a wealth of experience and leadership to our planning, community development, public works, economic development, code development/compliance, and engineering areas. He will be a welcomed addition to our executive leadership team and his knowledge and skills come at a time when Ferris is poised for growth and development, but also during a time where we need to focus on our existing infrastructure, homes, citizens, and honor our commitment to them,” Williams concluded.
