ELLIS COUNTY – Weather permitting, The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will be closing the northbound mainlanes of Interstate 35E (I-35E) in Waxahachie on Tuesday, June 16 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. to perform a traffic switch. Motorists will take Exit 391 for FM 329, continue east on FM 329 and turn left onto US 77. Motorists will continue down US 77 until reaching the intersection of I-35E northbound frontage road in Waxahachie and turn left on the northbound frontage road and continue to next available on ramp past FM 66 and then re-enter I-35E.
Upon this closure being completed, traffic will be in a new configuration in the northbound direction at Spur 394. In order to safely construct the other section of I-35E, and install drainage across the US 77 exit ramp, exit 397 for US 77 will remain closed during this phase. Traffic wishing to exit US 77 will continue north ½ mile and take the next exit. There will be orange construction signage that depicts the exit to US 77/FM 66/ FM 1446/ FM 876 at this exit. This ramp closure is estimated to be completed by August 31, 2020.
Please pay attention to the new signs and maintain caution through the construction zone. There will changeable message boards deployed that will also remind the traveling public of the changes in traffic configuration and when to exit.
